Made to your drawing rather than a catalogue: material, tolerance, finish and any certification the part has to carry. Nothing is quoted until the drawing and the tolerance are agreed, because a part that is close is a part that is scrap.
Dense. A container of machined parts reaches its payload limit long before it fills the space, so the box usually has room left for something bulky.

What about first-article inspection?
Our inspector is on the floor before the order ships, and a part bought to a drawing is measured against that drawing rather than eyeballed.

Parts bought on a cycle are exactly what a standing order at a held price is for.
